bdd and brookie are close friends, and share the passion for pure and functional products. this brought us the idea to work on a collaboration, combining the world of benzak with brookie's.

this sunday on the modefabriek, bdd and brookie will be releasing their very first spijkerbrookie -- a loose but figure hugging boxershort made out of a lightweight (8 oz.) denim, including riveted slits. as all brookies, it will come in 4 sizes: s, m, l and xl.

priced at euro 35, this limited edition item will be available on the modefabriek, this weekend only. if we have stock left afterwards, it will be available through both the brookie and bdd websites.

sometimes, on rare occasions, you stumble upon something really nice. it happened to me a while ago, during a thrift shopping spree. i found a total of 4 meters of beautiful deadstock indigo dyed selvage fabrics. all characteristics were a dead give away that this was vintage manual shuttleloom stuff: selvage edges, uneven structure and a huge slubs effect.

very enthusiastic with my find, i didn't know what to do with it at first. but 2 weeks ago i decided to turn the fabric into scarves! i had just enough yards of both fabrics to manufacture 3 scarves per fabric. so this is it, no re-stocks, limited stuff..

for the manufacturing part, which i did myself, i decided to add some details to show these are fully handmade:

*i rolled the sideseams by hand to give a slanted effect which is similar to the roping effect of a union special 43200g.

*because the fabrics are very small in width (less than 1 meter), i had to attach 2 full widths together to make long enough scarf. in the center i attached both selvage ends so that 1 is still visible and standing up, which i had to push back during sewing manually.

in the spotlight: bdd keyhook.

this week in the spotlight, the bdd keyhook. it is made of brass, 6cm long and has 2 rings for key attachment. the brass is very shiny when new, but with wear it will evolve in a beautiful dull and dark shade.

with this keyhook you will never have to put your keys in your pockets, to avoid getting ripped pocketlining.

in the spotlight: bdd wallet.

next up are the 2 newest wallets: regular and slim. just like the phonecase, the wallets are fully handcrafted by obbi good label, made of vegetable tanned leather and the bdd 14.5 oz. signature denim. the denim follows the shape of the letter 'b' for benzak and on the inside the selvage is visible.

both come with 5 cardslots, a bill slot, a zipper compartment and measure 17.5cm in length, but differ in thickness as the regular version has 2 more big slots.

a leather braided rein is included and the wallets can be worn both in the right and left backpocket, as the rein can be attached on both sides of the wallet.

i am still amazed about the fading capability of the fabric, especially the difference in colour tone. this is a perfect example of how each pair evolves uniquely, resulting in a personal and individual look, based on the lifestyle of its developer.

the first item in the new denim x leather project is a very sturdy, but subtle phonecase. fully handcrafted by obbi good label, as an exclusive item for bdd, this case shows the perfect combination of vegetable tanned leather and the bdd 14.5 oz. signature denim. both the denim and leather will only get nicer and nicer after use, evolving into a unique item with lots of personal character.
